Community Partner Profile: Regis College and Bethany Hill School

What is Bethany Hill School?

photo (4)The mission of the Bethany Hill School, a living and learning community of neighbors, is to provide independent, affordable housing with educational opportunities within a climate or respect, inclusion, and acceptance. Residents are empowered to progress toward their goals and be their best selves in a safe, supportive environment. Bethany Hill is a long-standing Regis partner. Like Regis, Bethany Hill School was founded by the Sisters of Saint Joseph (1994) and students, faculty and staff have been immensely involved with its growth and programming since its inception (as board members, staff and volunteers). BHS is located in Framingham, MA and offers a multi service programming for its members of the diverse, 40-unit residential community, including English language, literacy, and job-skills programs, advocacy and case management for HIV/AIDS residents, and a wide variety of youth programs.

What is Regis doing there now?

Regis, now with the help of the VISTA, is present at BHS on a weekly basis. Regis participates in a weekly reading club with the children of BHS. Regis volunteers also host life skills workshops for the youth of BHS such as healthy eating habits, study skills, communication, etc. Regis has also hosted BHS for college visits during athletic games to allow the youth to see a different perspective to college than just academics.
