Where did the time go? I can’t believe it has already been close to a year since I began my adventure as a MACC AmeriCorp*VISTA. Although time flew by, I am grateful for the partnerships and relationships my role as an Education Partnership Specialist at Wheaton College led me to build.
As I reflect about my service year, I fondly recall seeing Norton Public School students’ faces light up to see their Wheaton tutors and Wheaton College students realizing their passions. Having students eager to learn and change their attitude about school work added meaning to my work and energized me. In particular, an elementary student said to me, “ I can’t wait to go to the middle school because of Wheaton tutors.” Through this symbiotic relationship, a Wheaton tutor stated, “ I am more motivated to do my school work because of inspiring Norton Public School students to work hard.” Similarly, another Wheaton student mentioned, “Thank you for the opportunity to tutor because it helped me realize I want to be a counselor!”
I’m grateful my work as a MACC AmeriCorp*VISTA provided me the opportunity to positively impact the lives of students and the community! As I look ahead, I’m ecstatic to do more good work once I start my second year!
