A Message Regarding Campus Compact for Southern New England Updates

Less than a year ago, we began the process of merging the Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island Campus Compacts into Campus Compact for Southern New England (CCSNE) as of July 1, 2017.  Our first priority has been to continue to deliver resources and supports that are aligned with the needs of our member institutions while also developing a new model for transformative impact across state lines and across sectors.

We have started by bringing together a team of committed, passionate colleagues who are ready for new and innovative ways of coalition building. Our staff will include six professional positions. This will require that some current employees transition into new roles as well as searching for a new teammate.  The CCSNE team will be:

  • Matt Farley, Regional Director (current CT & RI Executive Director)
  • Barbara Canyes, Chief Membership Officer (current MA Executive Director)
  • Kaytee Stewart, Program Manager (current CT Program Coordinator)
  • Sharon Bassett, VISTA Program Director (current MA VISTA Director)
  • Tim Krumreig, VISTA Program Manager (current MA Programs & Operations Manager)

Earlier this month we began a search for our final professional position, a second VISTA program manager.  Here is a link to the position announcement.  Please share this opportunity with colleagues in your network as the priority deadline for applications if May 5, 2017.

In February, CCSNE was awarded an AmeriCorps VISTA grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service that leverages over $1.5 million in federal resources. The VISTA Corps will address poverty by building the capacity of campuses and their community partners to improve education outcomes for economically disadvantaged PK-20 students. We are actively recruiting 70 VISTA members to serve throughout the region. Please send us your best and brightest graduates to address educational inequities in our communities!

For our first year, our office will be located at 45 Temple Place, Boston, MA in the current Massachusetts Campus Compact office.  This is also the same building as the national Campus Compact office and the New England Board of Higher Education. The office will move to a more central location in our region in summer 2018.

We recently launched the CCSNE website, Facebook, and Twitter accounts. While they are under development, we hope you will check out our pages, follow, and like us. Starting July 1, 2017, these will become our central vehicle for connecting with members and promoting network-wide opportunities.  In the meantime, please continue to utilize your existing state Compact media for current activities.
