The Annual Teaching, Learning and Student Development Conference is slated for March 28, 2014. Hosted by Northern Essex Community College, the conference will explore the theme, “Social Justice and the Community College.”
Featured presentation from MACC and Campus Compact:
Through Campus Compact’s Connect2Complete (C2C) initiative, nine community colleges in FL, OH, and WA piloted programs that combine peer mentors and peer-assisted service-learning in developmental education courses. Each campus mobilized students to collaborate with faculty and serve as mentors and leaders of service-learning for social justice. Campus Compact partnered with Brandeis University to conduct a program evaluation. MACC Executive Director Barbara Canyes will team with the national Campus Compact organization to provide an overview of the C2C course-based model, discuss program outcomes, and explore low-cost strategies for MA community colleges interested in launching a program.
Dr. Laura Rendón, Professor of Higher Education at the University of Texas-San Antonio and Co-Director of the Center for Research and Policy in Education.
