The 6th Eastern Region Campus Compact (ERCC) Conference is now accepting proposals for workshop and poster presentations at https://ercc.submittable.com/submit. The conference, co-hosted with New York University, will be held March 15-16, 2017. This year’s theme is Moving Us Forward: Equity through Community Engagement.
About the conference:
Campus Compact believes that higher education is instrumental in sustaining a just and inclusive democracy. In support of that vision, the ERCC Conference convenes campus executives, scholars, practitioners, students, and community partners who are committed to enhancing our democratic society through community and civic engagement. ERCC provides a venue for thinking critically about the issues, trends, and challenges in our shared work and for building stronger networks among colleagues.
Each year ERCC identifies a theme for deeper examination. For 2017, we are seeking to renew our commitment to equity as a core emphasis of our practice while exploring the extent to which community engagement activities contribute to equity in our local and global communities. We will examine the challenges and opportunities that arise when we commit to equity in our institutional principles, practices, and outcome objectives, with practical lessons drawn from our efforts to do so thus far.
How are community-engaged scholars, practitioners, and students building their own skills around diversity, social justice, and equity? Where are the needs for improvement?
In what ways can a focus on equity inform the design of community engagement programs?
How are campuses assessing the inclusivity of community engagement practices and/or the extent to which equity-focused outcomes are being achieved?
We encourage MACC members to share their expertise by submitting a proposal. Deadline: November 18, 2016.
